EnergySensorTM Family:
Environmental Monitoring for the Data Center

EnergySensor Family

The Racktivity EnergyCloud™ System is intended to allow the modern data center manager highly granular energy information including power distribution and environmental status.
Given the EnergySwitch™ family’s unique inclusion of our multi-point bus technology, R-BUS, a user can daisy chain up to 4 EnergySwitch™ PDUs (ES2000 & ES6000 Series only) and up to 8 EnergySensor™ environmental sensors using a single backbone IP connection. As a standard bus technology cabling is a snap: no custom cables or wasted effort. Simple RJ45 straight-through connectivity across all R-BUS devices. Each device identifies itself in the chain and is fully supported within the rack and within the enterprise using our Datacenter Performance Manager solution.

The Racktivity EnergySensor™ Family includes the most common environmental sensors requested by customers today. Whether you are looking to monitor simple temperature or complex data center movements, we have the sensor available to fit your needs. Each one can be attached to any available R-BUS, provided by any rack-based EnergySwitch™ PDU.

Environmental monitoring currently available:

  • Temperature
Intended to be deployed in many places across the data center, typically within each rack, front and back, top, middle and bottom or some subset of this ASHRAE recommendation. The EnergySensor#0153; has a built-in temperature sensor and provides connectors for 2 additional temperature probes.
  • Humidity
Always be aware of the current air quality and keep an eye on air quality trending over longer periods of time.
  • Leak detection
With chilled cooling systems and condensation always a concern, we provide the needed sensors to detect this hidden concern.
  • Motion detection
Security is always a concern, so the change in presence and motion are key to understand what is happening at any given time.
  • Rack door close sensor
Highly important in lifecycle management and cooling efficiency, it’s important to understand when racks are being opened, for how long or if they remain open.
  • Smoke indication
Simple smoke indication can eliminate costly downtime. Smoke sensors can be deployed as a complement to the EnergySensor™, and play an important role in DR planning.
  • Input/Output (I/O) connector
The I/O connector features analog inputs (to connect 3rd party devices), digital outputs (dry contact) and digital inputs (galvanically insulated)
